| Pine Tree Junior Leader Training |
| A council wide Junior Leader Training. Held twice yearly. Every spring over the Memorial Day Weekend and every fall over the school break in October. Course runs for 4 days. |
| HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Every Scout! You must be First Class at least 13 years old and have the Scoutmaster's approval. Only 1 Scout per Troop is Guaranteed. (Many time we can get in 2 or 3) |

Aquatics Training & Certification for Youth & Adults |
| Courses are available for Webelos, Boy Scouts, adult leaders and parents. Adult leaders should become familiar with this entire program in order for your unit to be able to participate in all aquatic activities. Be sure to call in advance to make reservations so your unit is not left out. All courses are free except as noted. |
| Each course include additional information and skills in order to strengthen the program. This will provide each participant the opportunity to increase his knowledge and skill level and result in him being safer in the aquatic environment. Nothing additional will be required of the participant in order to complete advancement requirements. |
| Safe Swim Defense & Water Safety is presented each week for parents of anyone registered in the BSA as well as all adult leaders. Please call in advance. |
| Safety Afloat will be presented parents of anyone registered in the BSA as well as all adult leaders. Please make reservations. |
| Non-swimmers will be helped each week. If you know of someone that cannot swim, call for information. |
| Scouts working on Tenderfoot, Second Class & First Class can complete their swimming requirements. If a boy does not know how to swim, have him sign up with the non-swimmers group. Please call in advance. |
| Swimming Merit Badge classes will be offered each month. A Scout should complete his swimming requirements for First Class before starting Swimming Merit Badge. The boy must make his own appointment. There may be a small charge for the CPR requirement. The scout must bring with him the first session, a Merit Badge Application form signed by the unit leader. |
| Lifesaving Merit Badge will be offered every other month. Each boy must have completed Swimming Merit Badge before enrolling and be a strong swimmer. This is a serious and strenuous course. It is better if the boy is older and more mature. The scout needs to make his own appointment. There may be a small charge for the CPR requirement. The scout must bring with him the first session, a Merit Badge Application form signed by the unit leader. |
| BSA Lifeguard will be offered to registered members of the BSA, male or female, youth or adult. This is a serious and strenuous course. It is better if the boy is older and more mature. Each person should make his own appointment. There may be a small charge for the CPR requirement. |
| Mile Swim, BSA is available to all scouts who have completed their First Class swimming requirements and have a BSA Swimmer classification. Mile Swim, BSA also can be earned by adult scouters with a BSA Swimmer classification. Please call before attending. |

| Canoe Use & Safety is designed to provide the knowledge and skills for a safe canoeing experience for the participant, his (her) unit, family, and friends. The emphasis of the course will be on prevention and safety. Information will be given for 1) how to plan and conduct a canoe trip; 2) reserving canoes and equipments and fees charged; 3) rules for transporting, launching, beaching, and paddling canoes; 4) how to handle emergencies and make temporary repairs; 5) safety rules and regulations; 6) Safe Swim Defense; 7) Safety Afloat; and 8) the proper order for rescues. Time also will be spent learning and practicing lake and river canoeing skill on (and in) the water. There will be a charge for meals and handouts. Last weekend in April 2001 |
| Note: Due to limited space and high attendance of over 1800 in past program years, reservations are required to participate in this program. Call early for an appointment or more information. In keeping with the merit badge program, all boys working on merit badges, BSA Lifeguard, Mile Swim, BSA or Snorkeling, BSA, should personally call for an appointment. Parents are welcome and encouraged to call for information, but the scout must make his own appointment. Parents are encouraged to stay with their son as he works on his requirements. |

| Safe Swim and Safety Afloat - Adult Leader Certification |
| Courses are now scheduled for Adult Leaders to take and receive their certification in both Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. This three hour course will teach you how to conduct safe aquatics activities for your unit. During the three hour course we will begin and go through the Safe Swim Defense Plan and the building upon that plan we will move into the Safety Afloat Plan. By the end of the session you will understand the Boy Scout rules and regulations regarding aquatics activities for scout units, and how to apply them for your unit aquatic activities. |

| Would you like to take your Troop or Crew climbing and rappelling? This course will help you get ready to take your Scouts on a great adventure they will never forget. The course will consist of three parts: classroom, tower and natural site. Participants must be 21 years of age, there is limited space, so get your application in early. HUNTER SAFETY EDUCATION |
| Oklahoma State Law states that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must take the state Hunter Gun Safety course before you can buy a hunting license. |
| It's very important for all Hunters and non hunters to learn firearm safety. Instruction in the safe handling of power firearms and archery equipment, first aid, survival and land owner relationship. The state requires all hunters to take this course before they go hunting in Oklahoma or other states. |
